Well our 5 nights at Cape Range National Park were a true holiday within our touring holiday.
Unfortunately during most of our stay it was very windy, but that only added to the holiday feel with lots of time spent reading (well I did lots of reading!), playing games and relaxing in our miniature home away from home.
We enjoyed exploring a little of Cape Range N.P. and had our first attempts at snorkeling at the beautiful Turquoise Bay. If only we could lure some of the monster fish there onto the ends of our fishing lines. Unfortunately though, there was only fishing in certain areas so they were safe from our dinner table. We did however find out that the creek where we were staying was a ripper little fishing spot and we ate fish for dinner 4 out of the 5 nights we were there. In the mornings (if not too windy) we would go for a drive and choose which beach to have a snorkel or swim at, then head home for lunch and a relax. The afternoon ritual was to do a short bike ride down to the lovely Yardie Creek and enjoy catching our evening meal. I have become the Fishing Queen, snagging most of our fishy dinners. Paddy's new saying is "Mummy catches them, Daddy cleans and cooks them!"
We left Cape Range on Wednesday and are now at beautiful Coral Bay. It is a great spot, consisting mainly of two big caravan parks, a few basic resorts and a very small shopping complex. The windy weather has calmed and we have enjoyed some lovely time down at the beach. Paddy and the girls have done more snorkeling, whilst I soaked up the warmth of the sun on the sand as the water is still quite cold.
Today was Libby's birthday and she tells us she had a wonderful day. Her requests for the day started out with bacon and eggs and then a game of soccer. After that we walked down to the beach and covered another request for the day- snorkelling. We also worked together and created a great sand castle and then had a reward of ice-creams at the end.
After lunch we set up for her afternoon tea party while the girls anticipated the arrival of their guests. The last of her wishes for the day was granted with dinner at the pub and she is now one very happy and full bellied little girl....or should I say big girl. Where do those years go?
