Let's try this with a different layout!
I will take you back to Friday 2nd December where the day started with the normal jobs and once again we had our little helpers. Our journey inland to Dubbo was mostly uneventful and brought the usual things - food stops, changing scenery and of course many required toilet stops...well, a toilet was required by some of us!
We set up camp for the night about 10ks north of Dubbo at Terramungamine Reserve, which is right on the Macquarie River. As with many, this free stay was once again in a great spot, with lots of other vaners around and didn't cost a cent.
We set off nice and early the next morning, all geared up with heaps of food, water, sunscreen and the cameras and push biked our way around Dubbo Zoo. We all agreed the highlight was the giraffes, as we were able to get up close and personal at feeding time with them. They have the most amazing blueish coloured, very long tongues. The girls couldn't stop snapping!

We spent the night back at the reserve and all slept very well after such a big day. The next day was another big drive following the Oxley Highway through Gilgandra, Gunnedah, then Tamworth and all their beautiful surrounding towns. We then ventured onto the New England Highway and stopped at Uralla, hired some panning gear and set off to the Uralla Fossicking Area/Camping Grounds and went PANNING FOR GOLD! What a fantastic time we had...Mum and Dad included. A few hours flew by in a wink and although no gold or precious stones were gathered, we did enjoy ourselves immensely and we managed to come away wet, cold and with a good collection of...rocks!
